Bio/body identical progesterone in pre/peri-menopause

Progesterone for Pre/peri-menopause

From your 30’s onwards, progesterone levels start to decline and this can be the cause of hormonal symptoms in the run up to menopause. Symptoms such as sleep disturbance, worsening PMS, mood swings, irregular cycles can start to occur.

Often women are started on combined cyclical HRT and this can exacerbate hormonal imbalance and worsen symptoms.

In my experience it is better to start Bio/body-identical progesterone only at this stage and then add oestrogen once periods have stopped and menopause begins. Utrogestan can work very well in some women and there is no harm in starting progesterone first.
